Tenby 10K 2007 - 200 Runners, One Great Race...and a clean sweep for the TROTs ladies!
July 2007

213 runners registered for this year's Tenby 10K 2007 on Sunday July 29th, with 195 completing the undulating course on a rather muggy morning. The event was sponsored byCoastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, who capped a highly successful event by winning the local business team prize.

As always, a very big thank you to Computer Services Agency for their excellent results service, and to all the marshalls, timers, first aiders, the Mayor of Tenby, Brandon Tool Hire, Tenby Leisure Centre and Tenby Police, whose very generous support make this event possible.

The race was won in 34.14 by Gareth Jones of 3Ms Gorseinon RRC, while TROTs took a clean sweep of the ladies' trophies. Mel Watson was first lady and first F35 in 40.11. Claire Cleathero was second overall and first Open Female in 40.55. Mary Bowen Rees took the F45 category in 41.30, with Lindy Eynon 2nd F45.

Congratulations to Kevin Griffith who was 2nd M40 in an outstanding time of 36.24. It was also great to see Ian Morris back racing again, and strong performances from some new club members, including Craig Hurst and Sam Palmer.

A special thank you to Ann Rowell, Dwyfor Morgan, and to Tanis and Nic Hand for their kind hospitality after the event. It was tremendous race, a very enjoyable afternoon, and a great day for Tenby and the TROTs running club.

Ian Williams - stage winner at the Castles Relay 2007

Williams wins at Caerphilly in Welsh Castles 2007
June 2007

Welsh international, Ian Williams, produced another first class performance for the TROTs at the Castles Relay on June 10th - winning a stage of the prestigious event for the second year in succession. Despite sweltering heat, Ian opened up a gap of 4 minutes over the rest of the field, as he completed the Abercynon to Caerphilly Castle stage in 1.02.40, just a few seconds outside the course record.

Against tough competition from across the UK, the entire TROTs team ran with their usual grit and determination, covering the 209 mile course from Caernarfon to Cardiff Castles in 26.32.38, placing the club 38th out of 59. Well done to all the runners and a massive thank you to everyone who gave up their weekend to support the team - ensuring a regular supply of drinks and sponges, plus transport from stage to stage.

Among the TROTs men, Clive Thomas, Kevin Griffiths, Dean John, Roger Coombs and Mike Evans also met the UK rankings standards in 2006.

Medal winning TROTs ladies at Bridgend

TROTs brave Bridgend...and grace Barcelona!
March 2007

Four TROTs ladies were among the prize winners after the final Gwent League Cross Country at a blustery Bridgend on Sunday 4th March. Mel Watson was 8th on the day and won gold for the season in the F35 category, with Mary Bowen Rees taking the silver. Ann Rowell won the F50 silver for the season, and Pauline Thomas won F60 gold. The ladies' team finished 6th in Division One. The newly promoted men's team held their own in Division Two, finishing in 8th place.

A huge thank you again to Cross Country captain, Ian Morris, for his driving, support and enthusiasm throughout the season - which was in no small part responsible for a record turn out of 14 TROTs in Bridgend.

Meanwhile, a couple of hundred miles further south, Ann Thomas and Ian Williams enjoyed slightly better weather conditions for their 10K international in Barcelona, were they represented the Welsh senior team.
