Following todays announcement from Welsh Athletics the Trots organised training evenings will be resuming shortly. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page to keep up to date with all the details.

In line with the guidance from Welsh Athletics groups will be limited to groups of 30 people.

Aled Jones-Davies from Carmarthen has been named Community Coach of the Year for the Wales Sport Awards 2018.

He has been recognised for his dedication to Taf Running and Orienteering Team (TROTs).

The builder has not only used his spare time to grow club membership but also to promote the sport to the wider community.

Happy New Year!

Thirteen TROTS runners took part in the New Years Eve Ten mile race, marking the end of a busy and successful year for the club. Club coach Aled Jones-Davies led his clubmates home to finish 22nd in a time of 1hr 15min. Marathon Madness - Venice and Snowdon

Two TROTS ladies gained age-category podium placings in major marathon races. Mary Anthony was runner-up in the F55 category at the Venice Marathon, finishing 1165th overall in 3 hours 35 min 20 sec. Closer to home, Nerys Jones was 5th Open in North Wales' biggest running event, the Brooks Eryri Snowdon Marathon, completing the demanding course in 3 hrs 32min in 172nd position. Jones led home a quartet of TROTS runners. Richard Phillips slashed 23 minutes off his previous best time in this race, finishing 357th in 3 hours 49min 29sec. Keith Powell finished 1096th in 4:30'18", and first-timer Jim Dilks was 1563rd in 4:47'26".

West Glamorgan - Gnoll Estate

TROTS fielded a men's and a ladies' team at the second West Glamorgan League cross-country race at Gnoll Estate, Neath. The ladies team included three newcomers to cross-country. Isobel Dawson, Emily Nicholas and Janette Jenkins all finished strongly and inside the top 100 of the 160-strong field. TROTS placings and times:- Ladies:- 11 (1st F50) Melissa Watson 21'48"; 28 Dawson 23'43"; 50 Nicholas 25'16"; 95 Alison Terry 28'15"; 96 Jenkins 28'18". Gwent League - Llandaff Fields Cardiff

Daryl John led the TROTS men's team home in the first Gwent League cross-country fixture, finishing 50th in a field of 450. Narberth Nobbler 10k, Half and Marathon

Taf Running and Orienteering athletes had four top-10 placings over the three distances at the well-supported Narberth Nobbler trail race. Daryl John and Nerys Jones placed 5th and 7th in the marathon, with Jones runner-up in the ladies' race; Aled Jones-Davies was 7th in the half-marathon, and Dewi Snelson 6th in the 10km.

Race to the Stones 100km Ultra Marathon

Aled Jones-Davies took part in the iconic Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones 100km ultra-marathon, covering the entire length of the Ridgeway, starting at Lewknor, Oxfordshire, and finishing at Avebury, Wiltshire. He placed a fine 98th in a field of nearly 1000 finishers, in a time of 11hr 41min.

Swansea Half Marathon

Fourteen TROTS runners contested the Swansea Half-Marathon, led by John Morris who was just outside the top 100 in a 4500-strong field.

Simon Scurrell overcame a choppy sea swim and undulating bike and run routes to complete the Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon. He covered the distance of 1500m swim; 40km bike and 10km run, in 3 hours 12minutes, placing 154th.

Welsh Castles Relay

Daryl John earned a coveted Stage Winner T-shirt when he finished first veteran in 8th place overall on the 10th stage of the Welsh Castles Relay. This 210-mile race from Caernarfon to Cardiff, is run in 20 stages. John took on one of the toughest mountain stages, covering the 13.3 miles from Llanfair Careinon to Newtown, Powys, in a time of 1hr 19min.

TROTS finished 44th of 66 teams.

Bwlchygroes MT

TROTS hosted the Bwlchygroes Multi-terrain 10km, which was won by Aled Jones-Davies, by just under a minute from David Warren and Sarn Helen's junior Tomos Morgans .Melissa Watson headed a TROTS 1-2-3 in the women's race in 13th place overall, with clubmates Mary Bowen Rees 15th and Lindy Eynon 19th. Aled Jones-Davies was also winner of the M35 category at the Sospan Road Runners Llanelli 10km, finishing in 5th place overall. Laurence Jones completed the Man versus Horse marathon in Llanwrtyd Wells. Overcoming gruelling weather conditions, he finished 346th in 4hr 31min.

Talley 5km

TROTS veteran runner Mark Terry showed his versatility by winning his age category at the Talley 5km, just a week after doing the same at the rugged Sarn Helen 16-mile road race. Having just joined the M60 category, Terry finished ahead of all but two of his younger clubmates, finishing 22nd overall in 20min 55sec. Other TROTS medallists were Aled Jones-Davies (3rd, open male); Kevin Jenkins (2nd, M50), and Keith Powell (3rd M60).

Jan Younger Memorial 10k 2017


Mary Bowen Rees was the first female finisher at the Jan Younger Memorial 10km, held at Neyland. She finished 14th overall in a time of 45min 18sec. A strong contingent of 11 TROTS runners were led home by Aled Jones-Davies, making a remarkable recovery from his Llanelli Marathon 5th placing only a week earlier. He took the runner-up spot in a time of 39min 9sec. There was also an age category win for Mark Lee, taking the M60 trophy.

TROT St Clears 10k 2017



This years St Clears 10k will be taking place on Sunday, 20 August. This is a week earlier than it's traditional date on the bank holiday weekend in August. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Trots Open Night - 18th May 2017


Trots will be hosting an open night on Thursday 18th from 18:30 at the St Clears leisure center. We are inviting anyone aged 12 or over to pop along and see what we as a club can offer you. You don't have to a elite athlete to join us!

We realise to some that stepping in to a new club can be a intimidating thing to do. I think we've all been there. So this will be an informal night.

Our coaches and run leaders will be ready and waiting for you to answer any questions you might have with a big slice of cake.

Junior Trots


Starting on Tuesday the 3rd of January 2017 Trots will be holding weekly training sessions for juniors aged 13 and over. Meeting at the St Clears Leisure Centre at 6:30pm the sessions will last an hour and a half and cost £1. If interested more information can be obtained from Aled Jones-Davies on 07773 651 186.

Tuesday Night Training Sessions


Training sessions for seniors are being held every Tuesday starting at 7pm. The location varies but the sessions are typically held down in Llanddowror with members parking in the small cul-de-sac just off the Red Roses bypass. The details of each session are posted to the Trots Facebook page a few days in advance.
